“…being grateful to my body was the key to giving myself more love.”
– Oprah Winfrey
Well hello there – there was really no better way to start off this blog than an Oprah quote. She is my Queen, for real.
Welcome to Greatful body! Yes, I am aware that that is not how you spell, “grateful” (I am an English major after all…not that that implies that I am a very good speller. Or that I am even grammatically correct half the time. But I promise I know how to spell this one word!) But I thought it was a good name, because it showed two of the points I wanted to make in one word.
We should be GRATEFUL for something that is already GREAT.
Often I think we can easily get down on ourselves. “Oh I wish my body looked like this”, “Oh I wish I made this much money”, “Oh I wish I was Oprah!”
(I may have been personalizing on that last one…)
But the point is that there are millions of people who would love to have what we have. What you’re working with, right now in this very moment, is just that – WORKING. So we have to be happy and thankful for that. 🙂 That does not mean, however, that we can’t always strive to be better.
I’ve learned that health is a lifelong journey, and that we’ll never fully get there. I’m working right now (and will be for the rest of my life) to find a “healthy and happy” balance for eating, exercise, spending time with friends and family, etc.
Join me in being GREAT-ful. 😀
